Why Should I Get Involved?

NHS 24 strongly believes that public involvement directly improves our services, builds trust between NHS 24 and the public and helps to change our service for the better. You can help us to achieve the best standards of care, by sharing your unique experience, skills and knowledge in the development of our services.

NHS 24 will make every effort to help you get the most out of your time with us. As a member of the PPF and depending on your level of involvement, you can expect:

  • Involvement at a level where decisions are made (PPF Steering Group).
  • To meet friendly, supportive and welcoming staff.
  • To receive a detailed induction.
  • Accessible venues and convenient meeting dates.
  • Encouragement to express your views on particular project or documents.
  • Recognition and appreciation of your view.
  • Support, supervision and guidance.
  • To be treated as a member of staff who actively contributes to NHS 24’s goals through voluntary work.

We encourage members of the public from across Scotland to join our PPF, to help us understand the needs of Scotland’s diverse communities. Members can represent themselves, their local PPF or their local community group.

"I feel that health is one of the most important issues for us all. NHS 24 is a public service, funded by the tax payer so the public should be aware and have a say in their business."

- Gordon Guthrie, Public Partnership Forum (PPF) Steering Group member.
