NHS 24 Explained

Will NHS 24 keep my records confidential?

Everyone who works for the NHS has a legal duty to keep information about you confidential.

For NHS 24 this includes the information recorded during the call and the information documented on the computer systems.

NHS 24 will not give information about you to individuals, other organisations such as benefits agencies, employers or the media without your permission. We also need your specific permission to pass on any personal information to your relatives, friends or carers.

If you are receiving care from other people as well as NHS staff we may, however, ask your permission to pass on relevant information for your treatment.

As with other NHS organisations, NHS 24 has a ‘Caldicott Guardian’ who has responsibility for the safe keeping of your personal and clinical information and records.

This ensures that your personal health information is treated appropriately. NHS 24’s Caldicott Guardian is also the Medical Director, who can be contacted at NHS 24, Caledonia House, Cardonald Park, Glasgow, G51 4EB.

NHS 24 will not pass on personal information about you to anyone without your  permission unless required to by law.
