Equality & Diversity Impact Assessment

We have been Equality & Diversity Impact Assessing all of our functions, policies and practices. These provide the frameworks within which we deliver services to all our patients, as well as the environment in which we recruit and retain a workforce which aims to ensure these services are of a high quality and accessible to all of Scotland’s diverse communities of people.

As we reach draft conclusions on each of our Equality & Diversity Impact Assessments, we publish reports on our findings and invite comment from Scotland’s voluntary sector, the wider public, our own workforce and our NHS partners, to inform and influence the final shape of all our functions, policies and practices. In turn, this will help ensure a constant evolution in identifying and removing any discrimination from all that we do. This will ensure that how we design, re-design and deliver our services becomes, demonstrably and measurably, equally accessible to all of Scotland’s diverse communities of people. It will also ensure that how we recruit and employ people provides us with a workforce reflecting that diversity and able to access equality of opportunity in career development with us.

We welcome comment on how effective our draft Equality & Diversity Impact Assessment reports are in identifying and removing any discrimination and delivering equality. Most aspects of these are open to amendment or change, provided always that the case made for any suggested amendments includes either evidence of any potential discrimination or that proposals for further changes to the function, policy or practice will clearly strengthen its contribution to delivering equality of opportunity.

We also publish in this section our final reports on Impact Assessments, taking into account what we have learned from you and others as a result of consultation. In these reports you can also read what changes we will make to our policies and functions, when we will make them, and what monitoring arrangements we will put in place to ensure that the outcomes delivered match those we have planned or predicted.
